The Imperial Irrigation District recently announced the appointment of Wayne Strumpfer as General Counsel.
"Strumpfer brings decades of distinguished legal experience across California state government, education, and public agencies, including prior service as IID’s General Counsel from 2021 to 2022," the California public power utility noted.
Most recently, Strumpfer has provided legal consulting services to IID and other public agencies, advising on governance, investigations, contracts, and compliance.
His previous leadership roles include serving as General Counsel for the Long Beach Unified School District as well as senior positions with the California State Auditor, the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, the California Department of Corporations, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
“Wayne is a known and respected commodity to IID, having served our Board and community before with professionalism and clarity,” said IID Chairwoman Gina Dockstader. “His proven ability to navigate challenging legal issues while maintaining focus on public service will serve the District well as we continue advancing our mission to deliver reliable water and power.”
“I am delighted to welcome Wayne back to IID in this important role,” said Jamie Asbury, IID General Manager. “His breadth of experience in public law, combined with his familiarity with IID’s operations, makes him a trusted advisor and a strong fit to help guide the District through our legal, regulatory, and governance matters.”
With his return to IID, Strumpfer will oversee the District’s legal department and provide counsel to the Board of Directors and management on matters of governance, compliance, and operations.
