HHS Releases Remaining FY 2025 LIHEAP Funds

The Department of Health and Human Services recently announced the release of an additional $401.5 million in Fiscal Year 2025 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding.

HHS sent an accompanying Dear Colleague letter with updated funding tables for the program.

Funding tables for states and territories are available here, and funding tables for tribes and tribal organizations are available here.

The Trump administration recently released an initial proposed budget for FY 2026. This is a “skinny” budget proposal that includes topline funding numbers for major programs, with a more detailed budget providing agency-by-agency spending levels expected to be released later. The budget proposes eliminating LIHEAP funding for FY 2026.

APPA said it strongly supports LIHEAP and will fight vigorously to protect the program throughout the 2026 appropriations process.
