Emerald PUD crews have been busy this year completing and advancing several projects to improve reliability and support growing energy needs across its system, the Oregon PUD reported on July 6.
Work on the Parkway Road reconductor project has recently reached a key milestone, with crews completing that portion of the overall upgrade, EPUD said on July 6. This work helps strengthen the system by increasing capacity and improving performance along the line, it noted.
In the south district, crews installed underground power lines along Kenady Lane in Cottage Grove and connected two new feeders out of the substation that serves Creswell. This added infrastructure will help improve system flexibility and reliability for customers in the area.
Additional upgrades have been completed on Mohawk River Road, where crews moved overhead lines underground.
Along Coburg Bottom Loop, crews have completed reconductoring work to replace older lines with newer, higher-capacity conductors.
To support these projects and enhance wildfire prevention efforts, EPUD’s tree crews are now working with a new water wagon, providing an added level of fire safety while they maintain vegetation near power lines.
“These ongoing efforts are part of EPUD’s commitment to safely maintain and modernize the electric system to better serve our community,” the PUD said.
