Dr. Charles Moreland will succeed Sheila Pressley as chief customer experience officer at Florida public power utility JEA effective Dec. 2.

Pressley will retire in January after 21 years serving JEA and its customers.

“I am looking forward to having Charles join JEA’s leadership team. As a lifelong resident and public servant in Jacksonville, he will be a strong champion for our customers and continue our customer-first approach,” JEA CEO and Managing Director Vickie Cavey said. “I’m grateful for Sheila Pressley’s years of service to JEA and wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Moreland has devoted his 30-plus year career to public service, serving the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and City of Jacksonville.

Under various mayors in Jacksonville, Moreland was promoted through the ranks to director/fire chief.

For the city, he served as the director of community and international affairs and as the deputy chief administrative officer, where more than 2,000 employees served under his leadership.
