The U.S. Department of Energy has updated Form DOE-417, Emergency Incident and Disturbance Report.

The updated version of the form includes revised instructions to improve clarity on reporting requirements, sub-categories for better classification of the cause of certain types of incidents, a new reporting criterion for the “uncontrolled loss of a total of 500 MW of more from inverter-based resource(s) for greater than 30 minutes at a common point of interconnection to the bulk electric system,” and other minor edits.

In addition to the updated form, DOE will be transitioning to a new online submission portal, hosted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

The new site will bring many enhanced features for users and organizations soon.

Temporarily, users will only be able to submit forms as guests. Users will be able to access the site from the same web address, or directly via [doe417.pnnl.gov].
