The City of Orrville, Ohio, announced the appointment of Dave Filippi as Utilities Director for the City of Orrville, succeeding longtime Utilities Director Jeff Brediger, who retired after 39 years of dedicated service to the city.
Filippi brings significant experience in public power, power generation, plant operations, and municipal utilities to the position.
Before coming to Orrville, he served as Power Plant Manager for Cleveland-Cliffs in Warren, Ohio. Prior to that, he spent 17 years as Power Plant Superintendent for Dover Light & Power with the City of Dover, providing him with extensive experience in an Ohio municipal utility system.
Filippi also brings experience working with organizations important to public power, including American Municipal Power (AMP) and the American Public Power Association (APPA).
His technical background includes industrial electricity, power plant operations and maintenance, SCADA systems, high-voltage operations, environmental compliance, and project management.
“Dave brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to this position, and we are fortunate to have him leading Orrville Utilities,” said Mayor Matt Plybon. “I look forward to working with him as we continue Orrville’s strong tradition of providing safe, reliable, and efficient utility services.”
Orrville Utilities Board President Michele Abel also expressed the Board’s confidence in Filippi’s appointment. “We are excited to work with Dave and are confident in his abilities and experience to lead Orrville Utilities into the future,” Abel said.
Filippi said he is excited about the opportunity to lead Orrville Municipal Utilities and build upon its strong foundation.
“I look forward to the opportunity and the challenges that are in front of Orrville Municipal Utilities,” Filippi said. “My goal is to help take Orrville Utilities into the future by creating stability and longevity while continuing to provide the dependable service our customers expect.”
Filippi succeeds Brediger, whose leadership and dedication played an important role in shaping Orrville’s municipal utility system, the city said. "His experience and commitment helped build a strong foundation for the department and positioned Orrville Utilities for continued success under its next generation of leadership."
