The California Municipal Utility Association on Nov. 16 will hold a Wildfire Forum that will bring together utility leaders, wildfire mitigation specialists, emergency response partners, and policy experts for a focused half‑day program on California’s evolving wildfire landscape.

Two executives from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation will be on hand at the forum in Anaheim for a hybrid event to discuss the latest developments and wildfire risk-related issues related to the NERC Bulk Power System.

NERC's Darrell Moore, Director of Reliability Risk Management, and Jim Kubrak, Senior Technical Advisor, joined by representatives from SMUD and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), will take part in the panel conversation.

Other topics and sessions will include a State of California Wildfire Safety Advisory Board (WSAB) update, emerging trends panel featuring Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the role of California water agencies in wildfire response and preparedness.

Details on how to register for in person attendance or virtually are available here.

The forum creates space to examine emerging risks, share practical strategies, and strengthen coordination across organizations working to protect communities and critical infrastructure, CMUA said.

The Forum is intended for utility professionals involved in wildfire mitigation, electric operations, transmission and distribution, vegetation management, emergency management, risk management, safety, engineering, regulatory compliance, communications, and executive leadership.

The Forum will provide members with an opportunity to learn from peers and subject-matter experts, exchange practical approaches, and explore strategies that can strengthen wildfire mitigation programs and improve organizational readiness.
