Washington State's Clallam PUD recently completed its 2025 accountability and financial audits with no findings, no recommendations, and no reportable deficiencies.
"An outstanding result that reflects the District's ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible financial stewardship," it said.
Clallam PUD undergoes regular independent audits by the Washington State Auditor's Office. These audits examine how the District manages public resources, follows state laws and regulations, and safeguards customer funds.
The Washington State Auditor's Office conducts independent audits of public agencies to help ensure taxpayer and customer dollars are managed appropriately. The audits provide an objective review of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with applicable laws and policies.
For Clallam PUD, the accountability audit examined several areas of District operations, including utility billing, inventory management, project work orders, compliance with open public meetings requirements, and the District's overall financial condition.
The financial audit also reviewed the District's financial statements and internal controls. Auditors reported:
No significant deficiencies in internal controls
No material weaknesses
No material instances of noncompliance
No material misstatements requiring correction during the audit
What does "no findings" mean?
Independent auditors spent time reviewing the District's financial records, processes, and controls. After examining the areas selected for review, they found the District was operating in compliance with applicable laws and policies and had appropriate controls in place to safeguard public resources.
In simple terms, no findings means the auditors did not identify issues requiring corrective action.
Although much of the work happens behind the scenes, preparing for an audit is a significant undertaking, the utility noted.
The Washington State Auditor's Office recognized District staff for their assistance throughout the audit process, extending special appreciation to Finance & Accounting team members for their diligence and timely support.
"This successful audit reflects the dedication of employees across the District who work every day to ensure Clallam PUD operates with integrity, transparency, and accountability," the PUD said.
"As a customer-owned public utility, earning and maintaining the trust of the community is one of our highest priorities. This year's audit results reaffirm our commitment to being responsible stewards of the public resources entrusted to us."
