ArcLight Capital Partners on Aug. 24 announced a $1 billion equity commitment from its funds to launch Anchor Point Transmission, LLC, "an independent transmission company formed to address a critical challenge facing the U.S. power grid: rapid load growth from electrification, manufacturing, and AI compute is driving unprecedented need for transmission infrastructure investment."

Anchor Point "strives to partner with utilities to help enable, develop, and accelerate the high-voltage transmission infrastructure needed to support that growth,"

ArcLight has appointed industry veterans Michael Deggendorf as Executive Chairman and Justin Campbell as President of Anchor Point, combined with a seasoned operating and development team to drive the platform's success, it said.

"With Anchor Point's leadership and resources, and ArcLight's track record and expertise as one of the largest strategic investors in energy infrastructure and owners of private power infrastructure in North America, the Company is uniquely positioned to be a valued-added partner and solutions provider to the transmission market."

Anchor Point Transmission's leadership has been involved in transmission development since the early 2000s, with experience spanning multiple ISO/RTO markets, state and federal regulatory processes, and cooperative and public power partnerships.

ArcLight is an infrastructure investor that has been investing in critical electrification infrastructure since its founding in 2001.

ArcLight has owned, controlled, or operated over 70 GW of assets and 48,000 miles of electric and gas transmission and storage infrastructure representing more than $90 billion of enterprise value.
