There are currently vacant seats due to the retirements of Paul Lau, SMUD, Sacramento, CA, Region 6, David Carroll, Paducah Power System, Paducah, KY, Region 7, and Andrew McMahon, Town of Massena Electric Department, Massena, NY, Region 8.

In addition, Amy Zubaly, Florida Municipal Electric Association, Tallahassee, FL, has resigned her Region 5 Board of Directors seat, effective July 24, 2026, due to her election to Vice Chair of the APPA Board of Directors.

APPA is inviting members to nominate candidates for one open Board seat in Region 5 (Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia), one open Board seat in Region 6 (Arizona, California, Nevada), one open Board seat in Region 7 (Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee), and one open Board seat in Region 8 (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont).

The form to nominate deserving individuals for these important positions can be found at this link on the association’s website.

The Nominating Committee will meet telephonically in September 2026 to consider nominations for the vacant Board seats. The Committee's recommendation for the new Board members will be presented to the association's Board of Directors at its fall meeting held in October 2026.

In addition to the nomination form, the guidelines used by members of the Nominating Committee in the evaluation of candidates are also provided here

While the Board has endorsed these guidelines, the Board expects the members of the Nominating Committee to exercise their discretion and judgment in recommending candidates who will best serve the interests of the association. A chart is also posted here that lists Board members who will continue on the Board and those who’s seats are vacant.

Please submit nominations no later than September 10, 2026.
