The Arkansas River Power Authority recently announced that John Krajewski has been named the Authority’s next General Manager, effective July 1, 2027.

He will succeed Rick Rigel upon his retirement after over 16 years of service leading ARPA.

Krajewski will lead ARPA’s efforts to provide reliable power to its member communities in southeastern Colorado, the Colorado joint action agency said.

As General Manager, he will oversee the Authority’s operations, strategic planning, power supply management and long-term initiatives to meet the evolving energy needs of the communities it serves.

“We are pleased to announce John Krajewski as the next General Manager of the Arkansas River Power Authority,” said Lorenz Sutherland, President of the ARPA Board of Directors. “His appointment reflects our commitment to strong leadership and to ensuring the Authority continues to serve its member communities with reliable, cost-effective power. We look forward to working with John as he takes on this important role.”

"Krajewski will assume leadership of the Authority at a time when electric utilities are navigating changes in the energy industry, including evolving power markets, significant load growth, and the need to maintain affordable electricity for customers," ARPA noted.

Krajewski has worked as a consultant to ARPA over the last 15 years on various strategic initiatives, including power supply planning and rate development.

“I am honored to be selected to lead the Arkansas River Power Authority,” Krajewski said. “I am excited to continue working with the Authority’s board, staff and member communities to build on ARPA’s mission, strengthen its long-term position and continue providing reliable power to the communities it serves.”

Krajewski has more than 34 years of experience in the utility industry. He has been the owner of JK Energy Consulting, LLC since 2009, providing services to more than 75 clients.

Under his agreement with ARPA, Krajewski is planning to continue providing many services he has been providing to public power clients through a time-sharing arrangement.

“It was important for me to continue providing services to public power utilities that I have worked with over the last 25 years,” Krajewski said. “I am excited that ARPA and I will be working together to ensure the continuity of needed services, particularly in this era of significant change in the electric utility industry.”

Krajewski will officially begin his tenure as General Manager on July 1, 2027.
