Texas public power utility Kerrville Public Utility Board has been named a 2026 Top Workplace and earned six additional national Top Workplaces Culture Excellence & Industry Awards, recognizing the community-owned utility for its workplace culture, employee experience and excellence within the energy and utilities industry, it reported on Oct. 12.

KPUB received 2026 Top Workplaces honors for:

Employee Appreciation

Work-Life Flexibility

Employee Well-Being

Compensation & Benefits

Purpose & Values

Energy & Utilities

The six awards recognize KPUB across several areas of the employee experience, from feeling appreciated and supported in the workplace to having confidence in the organization’s purpose and values.

Top Workplaces honors are based solely on employee feedback collected through a workplace survey, making the recognition a direct reflection of employees’ experiences and perspectives within the organization.

“Being named a Top Workplace is an honor because it reflects the voices and experiences of our employees,” said Mike Wittler, KPUB General Manager & CEO. “Our employees are the heart of KPUB. They work every day to provide safe, reliable service to our community while supporting one another and living out the values that guide our organization. These awards belong to our entire team, and I’m incredibly proud of what we have built together.”

The recognition continues KPUB’s history of workplace excellence. In 2024, KPUB was named a Top Workplace among large employers by the San Antonio Express-News for the second consecutive year.

KPUB has also received national recognition for excellence in electric reliability, workplace safety, customer satisfaction, public power communications, energy efficiency and financial reporting.

Recent honors include the American Public Power Association’s Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) Gold-Level designation, Smart Energy Provider (SEP) Award, Safety Award of Excellence, Public Power Customer Satisfaction Award and Award of Excellence in Public Power Communications.
