As part of the ongoing commitment of Louisiana public power utility Lafayette Utilities System to system hardening and reliability, a portion of its aging wooden transmission infrastructure was recently replaced with high-durability steel poles across our service territory.

“These modern steel poles offer maximum protection against high winds and severe weather, lowering the risk of storm-related outages, and strengthening grid resiliency for all LUS customers,” LUS noted in a recent social media post.

“By investing in these upgrades, LUS is reducing maintenance requirements, improving system reliability, and ensuring our community stays powered through every season,” it said.
