APPA has prepared five new fact sheets designed to help public power utilities understand key federal environmental regulatory programs and their implications for utility operations, permitting, and compliance.
The new resources provide concise overviews of Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification, Waters of the United States (WOTUS), Effluent Limitation Guidelines (ELGs), Coal Combustion Residuals (CCRs) and the Endangered Species Act.
Each fact sheet explains the purpose of the program, recent regulatory and legal developments, and key considerations for public power utilities.
The fact sheets are available to APPA utility members on its website.
The resources are intended to serve as quick-reference guides for utility leaders, environmental professionals, and other staff responsible for regulatory compliance and project development.
Additional fact sheets are currently under development on Mercury and Air Toxic Standards (MATS), the Good Neighbor Plan and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) regulations for the power sector, giving APPA members a growing library of practical resources on the environmental policies most relevant to public power.
