The Bonneville Power Administration on Aug. 20 celebrated its 89th anniversary.
“For nearly nine decades, BPA has connected Northwest communities while helping shape the nation we know today through reliable, affordable and abundant hydropower. Our story is still being written as we continue expanding our 15,000-mile transmission grid to meet the region’s evolving energy needs,” it said.
“Thank you to our current and former employees, customers and partners whose dedication has helped build a legacy of public service, innovation and reliability,” it said.
When the Bonneville Project Act was signed on Aug. 20, 1937, “it gave BPA a clear mandate to build infrastructure that was desperately needed in the underdeveloped West,” noted Travis Kavulla, Administrator & CEO of BPA, in a LinkedIn post.
