On April 13, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein and lineworkers from some of the state’s energy providers joined forces to celebrate North Carolina Lineworker Appreciation Day.
Public power lineworkers Dustin Prince and Mike Ptasinski from the Town of Apex, along with other team members from Apex and ElectriCities of North Carolina, joined lineworkers and staff from North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, Duke Energy, and Dominion Energy for a special celebration of our hometown heroes across the state at the North Carolina Executive Mansion.

Stein thanked North Carolina’s lineworkers for their service, recognizing that their work often goes unnoticed.
“Lineworkers are among the first people to respond to storms and other catastrophic events, and the work is challenging,” he said. “Lineworkers work with thousands of volts of electricity high atop power lines to keep electricity flowing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, putting their lives on the line to provide power that North Carolinians can count on.”
Kathy Moyer, Electric Utilities Director for the Town of Apex, also attended the event. “It was an honor for the team to be invited and have the governor recognize our lineworkers,” she said. “We were proud to represent public power and join our colleagues from North Carolina’s cooperatives and investor owned utilities to demonstrate our shared purpose of keeping the lights on for families and businesses across our state.”
North Carolina public power communities will continue their celebration into the weekend, marking National Lineworker Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 18.
