The Silicon Valley Business Journal has recognized Silicon Valley Power Electric Utility Director Nico Procos as one of its 2026 Top Newsmakers, an annual acknowledgment of leaders influencing the Bay Area’s economic and business landscape, the California public power utility said on March 26.

Each year, the publication highlights individuals across a wide range of industries whose work is shaping the region’s future. Procos was recognized within the energy sector, joining leaders across fields such as artificial intelligence, finance, development, health care, sports business, transportation, and more.

Procos stepped into the role of Electric Utility Director in July 2025 after serving as Chief Operating Officer. With more than 25 years of experience in the public power and utility sector, he has built a career focused on operational excellence, infrastructure planning, and advancing clean energy strategies.

At a time when Silicon Valley is experiencing rapid growth in electricity demand driven by artificial intelligence technologies, data centers, and large-scale global events, Procos "has been guiding SVP through strategic system expansion and long-term planning. His leadership emphasizes maintaining reliability and affordability for residents and businesses while preparing the utility to support continued innovation in the region," the utility noted.

"This recognition reflects not only Nico’s individual leadership but also the important role Silicon Valley Power plays in supporting the economic vitality of Santa Clara and the broader region," SVP said.
