As part of City of Loveland Utilities’ commitment to provide safe and affordable power to our growing community, important upgrades will be made to one of its substations.

Improvements will include replacing existing switchgear, installing an additional power transformer and associated switchgear, adding flood mitigation measures and enhancing security systems, the City of Loveland, Colorado, said on April 1.

These enhancements will strengthen the capacity and reliability of Loveland’s electrical system and provide a safer working environment for field personnel, the city noted.

The City has been working closely with its transmission provider, Platte River Power Authority, to support the successful completion of these upgrades.

A key part of this collaboration is maintaining service for the Loveland community and surrounding areas throughout the project to ensure that there are no power interruptions related to the work. Construction will remain within the substation site and will not affect traffic or pedestrians, the city said.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
