California public power utility Truckee Donner Public Utility District was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The award was for TDPUD’s annual comprehensive financial report for the 2024 fiscal year. This is the fifth year in a row that TDPUD has received this award.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” the GFOA said in a news release.
TDPUD’s 2024 financial report was judged by an impartial panel and found to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
“For TDPUD’s finance team to receive this award for the fifth year in a row, it speaks to the unwavering consistency of the high-quality and transparent financial work we do on behalf of our community,” said Michael Salmon, chief financial officer. “We’ve made transparency a pillar of this organization, and the Certificate of Achievement from GFOA recognizes the success of that effort.”
TDPUD is a public utility district created in 1927 and overseen by a locally elected board of directors.
