Event Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to influence how public power utilities approach planning, operations, and risk management. This virtual roundtable will bring together risk management professionals, system planners, load forecasters, grid operations staff, and other individuals whose work relates to these areas. Participants will discuss the AI-related challenges utilities are facing or expect to encounter and share perspectives on where APPA can best provide support, resources, and guidance.

The discussion will also help identify how APPA can best support members through tools, guidance, shared resources, and peer learning as they consider and implement AI-driven solutions.

Discussion Topics

  • Planning for large new loads (such as data centers)
  • Improving risk and outage modeling for extreme weather events
  • Strengthening emergency management and cybersecurity
  • Addressing aging infrastructure and prioritizing grid investments

Registration is free and only open to APPA member utilities, joint action agencies, and state/regional associations. Register now or contact Academy@PublicPower.org with questions.
