On October 13, Alabama public power utility Huntsville Utilities presented grants to 10 non-profit organizations as part of its Innovation Dividend Fund program. 

This is the third installment of the program, which, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, uses money collected through ancillary revenues (not rate payer money) to provide grants to qualified non-profit organizations that are working for the benefit of our community and its residents.

This year’s recipients were:

  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace ($30,000): Provides beds for local children that would otherwise not have one.
  • Burritt on the Mountain ($30,000): Local historical site that provides family activities.
  • The CAP & GOWN Project ($25,000): Creates academic opportunities for underrepresented students.
  • Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy ($50,000): Provides theatre arts access for youth through production, education, and outreach.
  • The Schools Foundation, Inc. ($25,000): Supports public schools and teachers in Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County.
  • Kids to Love Foundation ($50,000): Provides assistance to foster children in Alabama and Tennessee.
  • Arts Huntsville ($48,200): Advances the arts in Huntsville and Madison County.
  • The CARE Center ($25,000): Multi-denominational Christian organization promoting the message of love and kindness.
  • Huntsville Community Drumline ($25,000): Provides free music education to youth in grades 1 through 12.
  • His Way Recovery Center ($25,000): Residential program to assist men with overcoming drug and alcohol addiction.
