The American Public Power Association recently shared several new energy storage resources and opportunities.
Public Power Energy Storage Tracker
A mapping feature has been added so that you can visualize deployments across the nation. An interactive table remains available.
Energy Storage Graphics
Three new graphics are available for use:
Energy Storage Basics is a one pager that can be leveraged as a handout with governing bodies, leadership, and external stakeholders to summarize key aspects of energy storage technology.
Energy Storage Services is a visual that depicts the various use cases for energy storage technology and relates them to applicable technology types.
What to Know About Battery Storage Systems was created for you to share with customers. It explains how to use batteries, billing impacts, and financing.
Energy Storage Working Group
APPA is resuming the Energy Storage Working Group (ESWG) meetings. ESWG is designed to facilitate discussions, evaluate opportunities, and define barriers to integrating energy storage technologies with electric system operations under funding APPA received from the Department of Energy.
The next working group meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
Whether you are an engineer, a grid or generation operator, a customer service representative, part of the communication team, or work on the business side, your perspective is important to APPA.
If you would like to participate in ESWG, please visit this APPA Engage group to request to join. Please note: only member utilities may participate in the ESWG.
APPA offers a suite of energy storage resources and training for members that also includes:
· Public Power Energy Storage Business Case Guide
· Energy Storage for Public Power Resilience
· Public Power Energy Storage Maturity Model Framework Report
· Public Power Energy Storage Guidebook
· Integrating Energy Storage Solutions for Fossil Fuel Generation
· Behind-the-Meter Energy Storage: What Utilities Should Know
· APPA Academy Online Understanding Trends in Energy Technology Training Series featuring sessions on energy storage, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence
