The Middleborough Gas & Electric Department in Massachusetts recently announced that one of its co-op students has successfully transitioned into a full-time entry-level employee in the Gas Division.
Cullen Woods joined the Gas Division Construction Team as a summer co-op in July 2024.
During his co-op, he assisted the team with the installation and repair of gas distribution system mains and service lines.
At the time, Woods was entering his senior year at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School (BP) and was an active member of both the football and wrestling teams.
This year, he participated in the first annual BP-Student Industry Signing Day, where his managers joined him, David Bernat and Danielle Hayes, as well as the HR team members, Laura Robbins and Ali Golz, and General Manager Ken Stone.
“Witnessing his journey from co-op student to full-time employee is truly rewarding and inspiring— precisely the outcome we hope for when establishing this program,” stated Robbins, Manager of Human Resources at MGED.
The BP partnership is an initiative that MGED’s HR team has developed over several years. Cullen is part of the second cohort of co-op students at MGED.
“We are very proud of the Co-op relationship MGED has established with BP and other local schools. The Co-op program is a great way to introduce students to real-world job opportunities and working for a local Municipal Utility. Cullen joins several other current employees who were once Co-op students at MGED, and we are excited to have him join our team!” said Stone.
"MGED is thrilled to welcome Cullen to the team on a full-time basis and looks forward to his continued growth and contributions," the public power utility said.
