Energy Storage
Quino Energy, a company developing water-based flow batteries, and Long Hill Energy Partners, a California-based clean energy developer, have been awarded $10 million in grant funding through the California Energy Commission Energy Research and Development Division’s Electric Program Investment Charge Program.
Reliability
Given that the cost of transformers has almost doubled in the past five years and the lead time to have one delivered is now more than 120 weeks, it is important that Washington State’s Grant PUD has a proactive plan to begin scheduling replacement of transformers at a rate of two a year, Kasey Grant, Manager of Asset Management Strategy and Planning at the PUD, recently said.

The American Public Power Association recently filed comments in response to Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers request for recommendations on defining “waters of the United States” (WOTUS), consistent with Sackett v. EPA.
The Midcontinent ISO on April 28 released the 2025 Planning Resource Auction results indicating adequate resources are available to maintain reliability during the upcoming planning year (June 2025 – May 2026).
