New Categories for 2026
In addition to an overall winner for both the Journeyman and Apprentice competitions, we are introducing new competition categories at the 2026 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo for small (under 30,000 customers), medium (between 30,000 and 99,999 customers), and large utilities (100,000+ customers).
These new categories are designed to:
- Provide additional opportunities for small and medium-sized utilities to showcase their skills and teamwork.
- Encourage wider participation from across the public power community.
- Create a fairer competitive environment by grouping utilities with similar resources and scale.
What the Rodeo Means
"Hosting the 2025 National Lineworkers Rodeo gave us a special opportunity to showcase the incredible impact of electricity and the people behind it. Lineworkers are the heartbeat of our mission — there's no role more fundamental. We were honored to host this event and celebrate the very individuals who embody what we do, why we do it, and how we serve our communities."
- Dan Beans, CEO of Roseville Electric (2025 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo host utility)
