The American Public Power Association is tracking Tropical Storm Dorian as it moves northwest across the Caribbean Sea. The Association has been in close contact with our potentially affected members, including the U.S. Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (USVI-WAPA), the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), and various utilities in the Southeast.
Both USVI-WAPA and PREPA have actively engaged the Association’s mutual aid process and are preparing to assess any potential damage to their electric systems and—if necessary—request resources and/or assistance.
Concurrently, the Association is working with its federal government and industry partners on a coordinated response.
Right now, it is critical that potentially affected customers heed local warnings and make the necessary preparations for power outages.
More information and updates will be posted to the Association’s Storm Center at www.PublicPower.org/StormCenter.
