Laurie Mangum to Retire as Director for Energy Services Department for St. George, Utah

 

Laurie Mangum, the director for the Energy Services Department for the City of St. George, Utah, will retire as of July 3, 2023. 

Mangum started her career in the power industry at California’s PG&E as a substation technician.  Her career took many paths including management positions in non-power related industries. 

In 1996 Laurie started her career with the City of St. George Power Department as the Warehouse Manager.  She then moved into the position of Energy Resource Manager until 2013. She moved on to become the Balancing Authority Operations Manager for GRU in Florida for nearly two years.

In 2014, she was asked, by the St. George City Manager and Mayor, to return to the city as the Director for the Energy Services Department. 

Her career for the city has been beneficial for the Energy Services Department. She has participated heavily in resource management and making sound financial decisions for the department.

She has also served as a UAMPS Board Director. Currently she is serving as the Region 1 Board Director for the American Public Power Association serving Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

She has spent many years serving on the board and is currently the President of the Colorado River Energy Distributor Association and as St. George’s representative for the Western States Power Pool.
