Developer unveils plans for 1,000-MW, gas-fired plant in S.C.

NTE Energy on May 8 announced that its next power plant will be the approximately 1,000-megawatt natural gas-fired Anderson County Energy Center located in Anderson County, S.C.

The plant will represent an investment of more than $1 billion in South Carolina, NTE said.

NTE anticipates the development and permitting of the Anderson County Energy Center will occur during the next 18-24 months, and the facility will be operational in 2024.

Upon completion, the Anderson County Energy Center will join NTE’s fleet of other assets including the company’s Kings Mountain Energy Center and its Reidsville Energy Center, which will be fully operational in 2021.

NTE utilizes its portfolio of assets to serve municipalities and power agencies located throughout the Carolinas.

To date, NTE has executed long-term power purchase agreements with more than ten communities, and is in final stages of negotiations with several others.
