Association members invited to make board nominations for Region 1

The American Public Power Association is inviting member organizations from Region 1 to nominate candidates for a seat on the Association’s board of directors to represent that region on the board.

Nominations must be submitted either online or via e-mail to: [email protected] no later than June 4, 2018.

Layne Burningham, who is Chief Operating Officer/General Manager of the Utah Municipal Power Agency, has resigned his Region 1 Board of Directors seat, effective May 2, 2018, but remains on the board as its newly appointed Treasurer.

The new board member will serve the remainder of Burningham’s term, which ends in June 2020.

Region 1 covers Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming and candidates can be from member public power utilities, joint action agencies and regional, state and local public power associations.

The Association’s Nominating Committee will meet telephonically in early June to consider nominations for the Region 1 Board seat.

The committee's recommendations for the new board member will be presented and voted upon by the Board of Directors at its June 16, 2018, Board meeting to be held during the Association’s National Conference in New Orleans, La.

The guidelines used by members of the Nominating Committee in the evaluation of candidates are available here. While the board has endorsed these guidelines, it expects the members of the Nominating Committee to exercise their discretion and judgment in recommending candidates who will best serve the interests of the Association.
