Public power demand-response programs report
This report provides an overview of the wide variety of demand response, time-based rates and demand-side management innovations being undertaken by public power utilities. Each initiative is briefly summarized and a link to more information about the program is included where available. A second list includes other resources with more information about demand response, including government databases, state-run websites, and private corporations and organizations involved in demand response. The list was compiled using information from APPA member utilities’ websites (including tariff sheets), media reports, and publications such as the California Municipal Utilities Association’s Energy Efficiency Report. If a utility wishes to update, add or correct information about its demand-response programs, please contact publicpowerdaily@PublicPower.org. The database was compiled by an APPA summer intern, Meredith Varela.
Energy Efficiency Management Certificate Program
The Energy Efficiency Management Certificate Program (EEMCP) is designed for utility personnel interested in starting or enhancing an energy efficiency program. The program will give utility staff a firm grounding in all aspects of energy efficiency program development, implementation, budgeting, marketing and management. Utility staff who work or have interest in the multiple aspects of energy efficiency may also benefit from this program.
To earn an Energy Efficiency Management Certificate, each participant must complete the six required courses, pass a written exam and submit an energy efficiency program business plan. To ensure participants expand their knowledge base and stay up-to-date on new developments, graduates must complete 20 hours of additional approved continuing education training (not limited to APPA offerings) every two years to maintain their certification.
