FERC proposes to remove communications barriers between gas pipelines, electric utilities

From the July 23, 2013 issue of Public Power Daily

Originally published July 23, 2013

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proposed to remove potential barriers to communication between interstate natural gas pipelines and electric transmission operators. The commission issued a notice of proposed rulemaking July 18 that would provide explicit authority to interstate natural gas pipelines and public utilities that own, operate or control interstate electric transmission facilities to voluntarily share non-public, operational information they determine would help to promote reliable service on their systems. The proposed rule would prohibit recipients of the information from disclosing any of it to an affiliate or a third party.

Comments on the proposed rule are due within 30 days of its publication in the Federal Register.
