Bruce Jorgenson was sworn in for his fourth term in office as commissioner of Mason County Public Utility District’s third district in Shelton, Wash. He will serve a six-year term as a member of the board. 

The Public Power Council, headquartered in Portland, Ore. and representing consumer-owned electric utilities in the Pacific Northwest, elected new board members to serve a 2013-2014 term:

Michael McWherter, unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as a director of the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors, took an oath of office for a term that expires in May 2016. He is one of four newly-confirmed appointments to the nine-member board. 

The district board of Emerald People’s Utility District in Eugene, Ore., swore in its newly elected directors: Ron Davis; Penny Jordan, president; and Katherine Schacht, treasurer. Kevin Parrish, who was appointed, was also sworn in and elected vice president.

The Western Area Power Administration promoted Lynn Jeka to manager of its Colorado River Storage Project Management Center (CRSP MC) headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was most recently Western’s financial manager and worked with its Transmission Infrastructure Program.

APPA Senior Vice President of Engineering Services Michael Hyland has been elected to join the board of directors of the Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid (ADS).
APPA Engineering Services Specialist Laura Cornwell has taken on a new role as staff liaison to APPA’s Energy Services Committee. She also serves as liaison to APPA’s Safety Committee.
APPA promoted the following staff, effective Jan. 1:
  • Lawrente Boyd to office services supervisor;
  • Mary Ellington to administration program assistant;
  • Alex Hoffman to energy and environmental services manager;
  • LeAnne Nienhuis to education and customer programs manager; and
  • Seth Voyles to director, government relations.
