Economic development topics to be featured at Customer Connections Conference in November

APPA’s 2013 Customer Connections Conference, Nov. 3-6, at the Hilton Portland and Executive Tower in Portland, Ore., will feature a full track of sessions devoted to economic development topics.

The topics will include:

•    High-Tech Marketing for Economic Development;
•    Learning from Data Center Magnet Communities;
•    What’s Hot in Economic Development and Site Selection;
•    Trends in Incentive Rates and Green Power;
•    Using Energy Services Offerings to Attract and Retain Business Customers;
•    Site Selection Panel: Business Trends 2013; and
•    New Business and Job Creation through Health Care Sector Growth.

Speakers will include leading site selectors from CH2M Hill, CBRE Strategic Consulting and Deloitte Consulting; economic development and community marketing consultants; professionals from state and regional economic development agencies; and case studies from public power utilities.

These sessions are designed for locally elected officials, city managers, and utility, city and regional economic development and marketing specialists interested in economic and community development. This event is recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) as a professional development event that counts toward the recertification of Certified Economic Developers (CEcD).

In addition to these sessions, the Customer Connections Conference offers sessions on key accounts, public communications, marketing and customer service, as well as roundtable discussions, networking breakfasts, receptions and other opportunities to share ideas and information.

Conference fees are $645 for APPA members and $1,290 for nonmembers who register before Oct. 11. There are also three pre-conference seminars on crisis media training, social media and customer services topics.
