APPA announces 2012 winners of Century and Honor Roll awards

12 utilities earn Century Award
In 2012, 12 utilities earned APPA’s Century Award, given to public power utilities that have served their consumers and communities continuously for 100 years:

  • Albany Water, Gas & Light Commission, Georgia
  • City of Calhoun Electrical Department, Georgia
  • City of Monticello, Georgia
  • Jackson Electric Department, Georgia
  • Kaukauna Utilities, Wisconsin
  • Lewes Board of Public Works, Delaware
  • Longmont Power & Communications, Colorado
  • Marietta Power and Water, Georgia
  • Pocahontas Municipal Utilities, Iowa
  • Roseville Electric, California
  • Shakopee Public Utilities Commission, Minnesota
  • Traverse City Light and Power, Michigan

Four individuals earn Honor Roll Award
APPA’s Honor Roll recognizes employees or officials of APPA member utilities who have made significant contributions to public power. The 2012 recipients are:  Beverly Stout, commissioner with the Indiana Municipal Power Agency’s Board of Commissioners; Mike Martin, general manager of Lebanon Utilities in Indiana; Rosalie Jacobs, clerk-treasurer of Kingsford Heights Municipal Electric Utilities in Indiana; and Stan Conn, general manager of Owensboro Municipal Utilities in Kentucky.
