Attendees at the 2013 Joint Action Workshop will look at new and innovative ways they can serve their member utilities.

Three joint action agencies will offer case studies on how they are measuring the performance of their members. American Municipal Power Chief Financial Officer Bob Trippe will discuss how AMP uses financial metrics to "rate" its members; Oklahoma Municipal Power Agency General Manager Cindy Holman will discuss member performance audits to enhance operational efficiency; and Piedmont Municipal Power Agency General Manager Coleman Smoak will discuss how his agency uses Hometown Connections’ Organizational Check-Up to help its members improve operations. Joint Action Workshop attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in an open roundtable to discuss services they are providing to distribution system members.

Other topics to be discussed at the 2013 Joint Action Workshop include:

•  Natural Gas/Electricity Interdependence Issues
•  Cyber Security: The Leadership Role for Joint Action Agencies
•  Developing Performance Measures to Evaluate Agency and CEO Performance
•  What to Do When One of Your Members Is Approached with a Buyout Offer

The Joint Action Workshop is an annual event for joint action agencies and their members to meet informally and discuss emerging policy, regulatory and power supply issues, and other topics related to the governance and management of joint action agencies.

The Joint Action Workshop will be held Jan. 6-8, 2013, at the Sundial Beach & Golf Resort in Sanibel Island, Fla. The workshop is open exclusively to CEOs and senior management of joint action agencies, their board and commission members, and APPA utility members who are members of joint action agencies.
